Arsenal fans react as Cole Bassett trains with the club

Colorado Rapids have confirmed that midfielder Cole Bassett will train with Arsenal.

Bassett has flown from the United States to join up with Arsenal for a week. Having played against Arsenal during the summer, Bassett will now train with the team that he describes as his “favourite club”.

The 18-year-old played 20 games last season in his breakthrough season for Colorado Rapids. With a number of MLS games already under his belt, the teenage central midfielder is being tipped for a bright future.

Bassett will now spend the week training with Arsenal’s U23 team and he will hope to impress. With many players missing through international duty, Bassett is boosting the numbers in the camp.

Ahead of his trial period in North London, Bassett told The Denver Post: “As most people already know, this is my favourite club. I don’t know which team it will be because it’s an international break for them. Hopefully, there will be a couple of guys missing with the first team and I can get with them. But I’m just excited to get over there and show up basically.”
