Arsenal fans react as club reportedly rivalling Tottenham for Miguel Silveira

Arsenal are reportedly rivalling Tottenham for Fluminense youngster Miguel Silveira ahead of a potential summer move – and Gunners supporters are excited at the prospect of their club luring the Brazilian wonderkid to The Emirates.

According to a report from AS, Arsenal and Tottenham are among the clubs interested in signing 16-year-old Silveira – who has caught the attention of scouts from around the globe after clocking up 11 senior outings for Fluminense.

Indeed, the Brazilian has also laid on four assists during that time, and is naturally an attacking midfielder but can also play on both flanks. The Gunners are beginning to use the Brazilian league as a scouting pool, having made two signings this season.

Gabriel Martinelli joined the club from Ituano, while the elder Pablo Mari moved to north London in January on a loan-to-buy deal from Flamengo. Now, a third addition could be made in the space of 12 months in the form of Silveira.

However, Arsenal have enormous competition. Indeed, Jose Mourinho’s Spurs are also tracking Silveira, as are Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid – who are renowned for bringing through Brazilian wonderkids, such as Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr.

Nevertheless, Arsenal fans reacted to the reported news that their club were after Silveira – who supposedly has a contract at Fluminense until the summer of 2022. Many are keen to see what he is like in a red and white shirt.
