Arsenal fans react as club reportedly eye Bruno Fuchs, after South American scouting mission

Arsenal are reportedly interested in raiding Brazilian side Internacional for highly-rated defender Bruno Fuchs this summer – and Gunners fans think the Brazil Under-23 international would be an excellent signing.

DAZN commentator Gustavo Fogaca has told Italian outlet Milan News that Arsenal have joined AC Milan and FC Porto in scouting centre-back Fuchs – and could be signed for a bargain figure between £1.7million and £4.5million.

Fuchs, 21, has recently broken onto the scene thanks to his exploits in the Brazil Under-23 side and having clocked up 14 senior outings for Internactional. He is considered as one of the most up-and-coming prospects in Brazilian football.

The Gunners already have two Brazilian central defenders of their own, though by next season – they may have none. Pablo Mari remains on loan, while David Luiz’s contract expires this summer. Fuchs has told Globo Esporte he idolises Thiago Silva.

“Since I was little, I have been a fan of Thiago Silva,” Fuchs said, back in May 2019. “Even when I wasn’t a defender when I was younger, he was already an idol to me. He is a leader. He’s a great player.”

Arsenal are expected to sign a central defender this summer even with the return of William Saliba and the potential permanent capture of Mari. Rob Holding, Shkodran Mustafi, Sokratis, Calum Chambers and Konstantinos Mavropanos are on the books.

Nevertheless, Arsenal supporters reacted on Twitter to the potential signing of Fuchs – which would see a third player join the Gunners from Brazil in a year, after Mari and Gabriel Martinelli. Many think he would be a top addition.
