Arsenal are reportedly set to open talks for FC Porto captain Danilo Pereira in the coming weeks as Mikel Arteta identifies the Euro 2016 winner as a cheaper alternative to Thomas Partey – and Gunners fans have reacted.
Pereira, 28, is one of Porto’s best players and has been linked with a move to Arsenal in the past. Now, Arteta has identified the Portugal international and is intent on luring Pereira to the Emirates in the coming weeks.
ESPN claim that Pereira has a release clause worth an enormous £54million – but Porto are willing to accept a third of that, just £18million. Arsene Wenger is said to have scouted Pereira in the past.

With wages at just £48,000 a week, Pereira has been identified with the Gunners unlikely to avoid Partey’s £45million release clause. Pereira is keen on a move to the Premier League in the coming weeks.
It is believed Arsenal are ready to enter talks in a few weeks’ time, when it becomes apparent if the Gunners will qualify for European football and how much they will have to spend in the upcoming window.
Arsenal supporters are not impressed, though. The Gunners faithful have their heart set on Atletico Madrid star Partey, and with Pereira turning 29 in September, many feel they should avoid the experienced midfielder.
