Arsenal have been reportedly offered Real Madrid striker Mariano Diaz this summer for a fee of £18million after prior links to Tottenham Hotspur – and Gunners fans want him signed.
The Mirror claim that Arsenal have been given the chance to sign Diaz, given that the 25-year-old is expected to plummet down the pecking order at the Santiago Bernabeu this summer following Real’s capture of Luka Jovic.
Mariano left Real to join Lyon in the summer of 2017, and the Brazilian shone in France – scoring 21 goals throughout the 2017-18 campaign. Real opted to bring him back, but he scored just four goals in 22 games last term.
With Jovic signing and Karim Benzema still at the club, Diaz is expected to leave Real and he has been offered to Arsenal for just £18million. If the Gunners want the Dominican Republic international, though, they may have to fend off their closest rivals.
Spanish newspaper AS claimed that Tottenham are also keen on Diaz, as Mauricio Pochettino’s side look for a new back-up to Harry Kane after Fernando Llorente was released by the club earlier this summer.
Arsenal fans have reacted on Twitter to the reported news that they could be about to sign Mariano this summer, and the majority of Gunners supporters have urged Unai Emery to get a deal done.
Arsenal should go for him if they have sense
