Arsenal fans react as club linked with move for Manchester City ace John Stones

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Manchester City defender John Stones (90Min) and their fanbase has been reacting on Twitter.

The Citizens defender has not enjoyed the best of campaigns during 2019/20 and could depart the Etihad.

Having worked with Arteta at City, the Arsenal boss could look to reunite with the central defender ahead of next season.

The man with 39 England caps has played 133 games for City having arrived from Everton in 2016.

Arsenal might be forced to curb their spending a little bit this season and will want a good deal in order to sign Stones.

The City man is valued at £30 million by his current club and wouldn’t come overly cheap for the Gunners.

The defender is on £100,000-a-week at City and is unlikely to take a drop in wages to sign for the Gunners.

With that in mind, Arteta must think carefully over any deals he does; with the intention that any signings are better than the players he currently has.

Following news that Stones might be of interest to Arsenal, their supporters have been reacting on Twitter.

It would seem many don’t see him as being an upgrade on the current crop and hope Arteta looks elsewhere.

It’s perhaps surprising that Arsenal fans don’t see a serial trophy winner and international as a man to make a difference to a, particularly leaky defence.
