Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren but face plenty of competition from the likes of Lazio and AC Milan – but Gunners supporters are desperate to avoid signing the Croatian star.
Italian outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi have claimed that Arsenal have become an option for the 31-year-old defender, ahead of the summer window. Indeed, Lovren has only played 14 times this season and is expected to leave in the summer.
He has plummeted down the pecking order behind the likes of Joel Matip, Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez – failing to add to his tally of 184 appearances on a regular basis since his £20million (BBC) move from Southampton.
Now, with little over 12 months left on his Liverpool contract, Lovren is set to be thrown on the scrapheap. The report claims Lazio are keen to land the 57-time Croatia international, with Lucas Leiva still impressing at the Serie A side.
Lazio are not alone in their pursuit, though. Arsenal are also suggested as a potential move, as are The Gunners’ north London rivals Tottenham. Lovren’s former side Lyon, and AC Milan, are other clubs named as in the race.
Arsenal fans have reacted on Twitter to the reported news that their side are interested in signing Liverpool ace Lovren, and many are desperate for Mikel Arteta to look elsewhere.
