Arsenal fans react as club are linked with La Liga star Guido Rodriguez

Last week it was claimed that Arsenal are keen to add Guido Rodriguez to their ranks and look set to make a move for the Real Betis star next month. 

According to El Desmarque, the Gunners are eying the midfield maestro following a standout season playing in La Liga.

The Argentine is firmly on Arsenal’s radar as Mikel Arteta looks to beef up his options in the midfield engine room.

Betis inserted a £69 million release clause in the contract of Rodriguez but that is unlike to be met by Arsenal.

Despite that, the Gunners are thought to be undeterred in their efforts and hope to be able to strike a compromise with the Spanish outfit.

Betis won’t let him go on the cheap but Arsenal might like to avoid a repeat of the long chase to sign Thomas Partey last summer.

The Ghanian was signed on transfer deadline day in the summer and has taken some time to get going in the Premier League.

Rodriguez is renowned for his defensive qualities and has played 31 times for Real Betis during the current campaign.

Rodriguez has been capped 10 times by Argentina and earns just £35,000-a-week at his current club.
