Brooke Norton-Cuffy has been handed professional terms after breaking into the Arsenal’s reserve team this season – and Gunners supporters have reacted on Twitter to the news, excited at the prospect of the teenage defender.

Norton-Cuffy, 17, only made his debut in the Under-18 Premier League this season, but has immediately broken into Steve Bould’s Under-23 side and become a regular – playing fives times in Premier League 2 for The Gunners.

An England Under-16 international, Norton-Cuffy has been at Arsenal since the age of nine years – working towards the day he puts pen to paper on professional terms. It is unclear how long his new contract will last for.

Norton-Cuffy has posted an emotional message on Instagram, telling fans just how much it means not only to realise his dream of becoming a professional footballer – but also to do it with the club he has been with for eight years.

Playing six times for the club’s Under-18 side this season, Norton-Cuffy has now become a regular in the reserves – something which is certainly ahead of the curve given his tender age. He now has six appearances for the Under-23’s.

Arsenal supporters responded to the news that the right-back has penned new terms with Arsenal, but this time on a professional contract and many are excited at the prospect of the teenage defender.
