Arsenal fans react as CEO is told to step down from Premier League role after ESL fiasco

Arsenal fans are eager for chief executive Vinai Venkatesham to step down from his roles at both a Premier League and club level following the fallout from a proposed European Super League.

The Evening Standard report that Venkatesham, as well as Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck, have been asked to step down from their positions with the Premier League after it was announced on Tuesday night that a planned European Super League, which Arsenal had agreed to sign up for, collapsed after every English team set to compete in the competition withdrew as reported by BBC Sport.

Venkatesham, as well as club owner Stan Kroenke, have been widely criticised by Arsenal supporters and pundits over the past few days for their involvement with a European Super League, and supporters on Twitter are eager for the Gunners CEO to step down from his role with the Premier League, as well as north London side entirely.

Here’s what Arsenal supporters had to say about Venkatesham on Twitter, with many fans keen to see the CEO resign…

Venkatesham has been at Arsenal since 2010 and has operated under many roles within the club during that time.
