Arsenal supporters have been giving their reactions to reports Athletico Paranaense midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has agreed to join Lyon.
According to L’Equipe, the French club have won the race to sign the Brazilian defensive midfielder, who wowed last year the Serie A.
His performances had supposedly alerted Arsenal, with Goal Brasil only reporting last week that the Gunners were ready to ‘intensify’ their interest in the player.
It would seem now though that the north Londoners have missed the boat, with L’Equipe claiming a £21 million agreement is in place, and it’s just personal terms that now need finalising.
Guimaraes is seen as one of Brazilian football’s best young prospects, and other sides such as Chelsea and Atletico Madrid have also been linked.
Mikel Arteta and the Arsenal board will now likely have to consider alternatives, with under two weeks remaining until the end of the transfer window.
Holding midfield is an area Arsenal could do with adding to, with Matteo Guendouzi, Granit Xhaka and Lucas Torreira the only defensive-minded options at the moment.

News of Guimaraes’ proposed move to Lyon has frustrated some Arsenal supporters on social media:
Too busy trying to sign the likes of Boateng and Kurzawa. pic.twitter.com/Uc9HNofV1w

All because we don’t want to spend until summer…anyway, hope it means we get a more athletic option in midfield

can’t believe we’re letting Bruno Guimarães go to Lyon for basically nothing whilst the board beg for Adrian Rabiot to join us instead. What a club
