Arsenal fans react as Borussia Dortmund reportedly eye late move for £13m Gunners man
Matteo Guendouzi is being strongly linked with a move to Marseille but Fussball Transfers claim Borussia Dortmund are now interested. They report that Guendouzi has agreed a move to join Marseille, but Dortmund could make a late offer – and Arsenal fans have reacted on Twitter.
Guendouzi, 22, has been on loan at Hertha Berlin over the last season. During his time with the Bundesliga club, he has caught the attention of Dortmund according to FT. However, a move to Marseille was expected with L’Equipe stating a £13million deal was expected to go through.
The new report states that Dortmund have opened talks with Guendouzi’s agents over a late move to get in before Marseille. Dortmund could do with a midfielder this summer, despite the numerous options in the middle of the park. That is because three are out of contract in the summer of 2022.
What are Arsenal fans saying about the interest from Dortmund?
Indeed, Mahmoud Dahoud, Thomas Delaney and Axel Witsel are all in the final year of their contracts. While they are to remain at Dortmund for another season, the German club may feel they have to cash in – rather than lose them for nothing next summer. Guendouzi could be a replacement.
Arsenal fans took to Twitter following the reports. Many believe it would be a good move for £40,000-a-week (Spotrac) Guendouzi to join third-placed Dortmund, while others outlined what kind of fee they would like in return. Some even want a swap deal, suggesting Julian Brandt or Jude Bellingham as potential options.
