Arsenal fans react as Alexandre Lacazette responds to agent comments on Twitter

Alexandre Lacazette has backed up his agents’ response to rumours that the French striker could be on his way to Atletico Madrid from Arsenal – and Gunners fans have applauded their striker for his Tweet.

Lacazette, 28, has been in indifferent form this season – netting only nine times in 26 games. Coming into the season, he had a hand in 54 goals during 88 outings – but the France international’s stats have certainly taken a downturn this term.

Spanish newspaper AS have stated that Diego Simeone has identified the ex-Lyon striker as a main priority. It remains to be seen how much Lacazette would cost, while Atleti will have to pay big to meet his £140,000-a-week wages (Mirror).

Score Agencies, otherwise known as Lacazette’s representatives, responded to rumours suggesting Lacazette was moving to Atleti. The Tweet is translated as: “Twitter is magic!!!! It’s not nice to lie to fans of the Atletico Madrid.”

Lacazette then responded to his agents’ Tweet, backing their claim up and reinstating his loyalty to Arsenal, by posting on his official account: “Not nice at all”.

Lacazette has been replaced by Eddie Nketiah at times during the second half of the season, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Gabriel Martinelli are also options up front. It remains to be seen what Arteta will do regarding Lacazette.

But as it stands, Lacazette has made his point clear that he is not yet on his way out of Arsenal – and Gunners supporters have reacted on Twitter to his post, praising the striker for his response. Indeed, many urged him not to leave, and sign a new deal.
