Arsenal could be about to lose one of their first-team academy products in the form of Ainsley Maitland-Niles with the versatile midfielder already planning his summer exit according to reports – and Gunners fans have responded.

Maitland-Niles, 23, was one of the fringe players that were used more in the Europa League fixtures rather than the Premier League – like Eddie Nketiah and Joe Willock. Like Willock., it has convinced Maitland-Niles to leave.

Since joining West Brom, he has got some much-needed Premier League game time under his belt – starting the last seven league games for the relegation-strickened Baggies. However, it seems as though he has got a taste.

The Telegraph reports that Maitland-Niles, an England international, is planning on leaving Arsenal permanently this summer and three Premier League clubs are keen in the form of Wolves, Leicester and Southampton.

The report also claims that Manchester United could be an option for the midfielder – who is naturally a central midfielder but can also play at right-back or left-back. That versatility is likely to be desirable in the summer.

Arsenal fans have reacted to the reports that Maitland-Niles is expected to leave in the coming months and many believe that it could end up being a “big mistake”. One fan feels he is better than Granit Xhaka and Mo Elneny.
