Arsenal fans react as agent of Celtic star Kris Ajer says he will leave in summer

The agent of Celtic star Kristoffer Ajer has confirmed that his client will leave the champions at the end of the season despite having a contract with the club until the summer of 2022. Some Celtic and Arsenal fans want him to move to north London.

Ajer, 21, has become a regular at Celtic over the past couple of seasons – clocking up 129 appearances for the Scottish champions since Brendan Rodgers signed the defender from Norwegian side Start in the summer of 2016.

Despite being a regular for the Scottish champions and developing into a decent player, the Norway international’s agent – Tore Pedersen – has been quoted by the Scottish Sun as saying that he will leave this summer, and will not sign a new deal.

“He will not extend his contract with Celtic and will leave this summer,” Pedersen said. “There are several clubs who are interested, but I can’t go into their names. There are many who have followed him for a long period.”

Since Pedersen’s comments, outlet Sporten have claimed that Arsenal’s north London rivals Tottenham are interested in signing Ajer. The report claims that Celtic want as much as £26.7million for the impressive young defender.

The Gunners are likely to be after a new centre-back this summer, despite the signing of Pablo Mari. Sokratis, David Luiz and Shkodran Mustafi have all come in for criticism – while Calum Chambers remains on the sidelines with a long-term injury.

Arsenal fans reacted to Ajer’s agent claiming his client will leave Parkhead in the summer and will not sign a new deal, and many supporters of the north London club are keen. Some Celtic fans are also keen for Arsenal to sign Ajer.
