Robin van Persie has spoken to the BBC about the nature of his departure from Arsenal to join Manchester United back in 2012.
The Dutchman angered the Gunners fans by joining a historic rival, where he clinched the Premier League title within a season at Old Trafford.
And he said: “I get that the fans were angry with me. I was the captain, top scorer and we came third that year. But just sometimes you feel you need a challenge, a new adventure.
“If I hurt people, I’m sorry. But that’s me. I made that decision and I stand by it. But that doesn’t mean that I look in a negative way towards Arsenal. I cannot say one bad word about Arsenal Football Club.”

And it was always going to be interesting to see the reaction of Arsenal fans on social media – would they still be angry with the player or could they accept why he left?
Well, there were enough Gunners on Twitter who say they would never forgive van Persie, with the idea that he was a snake for going to join United of all clubs persisting.
We’ve put together the best of the reaction online…
