Arsenal produced an excellent display as pre-season gets going to see off newly-promoted Premier League side Watford 4-1. The game, which took place on Wednesday morning at London Colney, was then later shown on Arsenal’s Twitter. Many Arsenal fans have praised Albert Lokonga.
Mikel Arteta started a strong side that included the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Willian, Bernd Leno and Pablo Mari. Either at half time or on 64 minutes, all 11 starting players were taken off. New signing Lokonga got 64 minutes before he was Miguel Azeez came on in his place.
What are Arsenal fans saying about Lokonga’s performance?
During his 64 minutes, though, he was impressive. In a 4-2-3-1 system, he was alongside Mo Elneny in the middle of the park – dictating the play. Arsenal took the lead through Eddie Nketiah, who cut inside from the left wing before curling into the far corner. Philip Zinckernagel equalised.
After the half-time whistle, Alexandre Lacazette scored a penalty before Emile Smith-Rowe’s cross was smashed in by Kieran Tierney. The best came last, though, as Azeez curled a beauty into the net from a short corner. Arsenal fans raved about new signing Lokonga on Twitter after the win.
One fan spoke about just how much “courage” the £18million (Goal) signing was showing.
