Arsenal fans rave about on-loan defender after 25-yard strike for top-tier side

Harry Clarke has made a brilliant start to life at Scottish Premiership side Ross County, during a loan from Arsenal – and Gunners fans have reacted.

Clarke, 20, joined Ross County on loan in the summer from North London in what is his second temporary move away from The Emirates.

Last season, he impressed for Oldham Athletic. Now, he is in the top tier of Scottish football – having an impact at both ends of the pitch.

While Ross County are struggling to pick up points – winning just two from nine league games – they are producing some decent performances.

Clarke is crucial to that, having a hand in three goals in his eight appearances. On Saturday, he scored his second goal for the club.

Picking up the ball around 30 yards out at Dingwall, he took a touch out of his feet before lashing a beautiful effort into the far corner.

What are Arsenal fans saying about Clarke, after Ross County strike?

It is unclear when Clarke has a contract at Arsenal until, having put pen to paper on a new contract soon after the arrival of Mikel Arteta in 2019.

But after his goal, and with the future of Rob Holding, Calum Chambers, William Saliba and others up in the air – he might be worth keeping.

English, a homegrown product from the academy, Clarke would be ideal as cover for Arteta. That is, especially if Arsenal qualify for Europe.

But for Clarke, he may feel acting as cover at Arsenal is not for him – preferring to get game time. Arsenal fans have reacted on Twitter.
