'We don't deserve him': Arsenal fans rave about Gabriel Martinelli against Liverpool
It wasn’t to be for Arsenal this evening as they were seen off in relatively comfortable fashion by Liverpool as the Reds advanced into the EFL Cup final at the Gunners’ expense.
The Reds were in cruise control from the moment Diogo Jota gave them the lead in the first-half. From there, Liverpool created a few more chances before Jota sprung the offside trap to make it 2-0. And while VAR might have had a look, Arsenal defender Gabriel was comfortably playing the Liverpool man on.
For Arsenal, there was little in the way of positives really. However, one of the big pluses on the night was the performance of young forward, Gabriel Martinelli. The young Brazilian was lively out wide for the Gunners and looked the most likely, in terms of a goal.
Martinelli has taken his chance in recent weeks with other players being missing. And while he was on the losing side tonight, Arsenal fans were left more than impressed with the youngster on the night.
Twitter, as usual, was awash with comments from Arsenal fans who, despite the loss, wanted to sing the praises of Martinelli for his contribution.
