Arsenal fans have taken to social media to praise right-back Hector Bellerin after the defender was chosen to represent the club in a proposed meeting amongst Premier League captains.
The Atheltic report that the 26-year-old defender was chosen to attend the meeting on behalf of Arsenal with current club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang revealing last week via Sky Sports News that he was in hospital after contracting malaria whilst on international duty with Gabon.
As reported by The Daily Mail, Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson called an emergency meeting amongst the captains of Premier League sides to discuss the planned European Super League which was announced on Sunday. But, with every English team withdrawing from the proposed competition last night, this meeting will no longer take place as per The Athletic report.
And for Arsenal fans on social media, they were delighted that Bellerin was chosen to represent the club for such an important meeting, with supporters praising the defender for taking a stand against the European Super League.
