'Quite sensational': Arsenal fans praise Gabriel Martinelli for Manchester United performance

Arsenal were finally seen off by Manchester United this evening as they threw away a lead at Old Trafford, with Cristiano Ronaldo getting a double.

The Gunners were ahead in controversial fashion thanks to Emile Smith Rowe’s goal. It came as David De Gea was down injured, but referee Martin Atkinson hadn’t blown, so VAR advised a goal must be given.

Mikel Arteta will have been pleased with some aspects of the game. Arsenal were well in it right until the end and but for some sharp United defending, might have got the equaliser.

One of the players to impress Arsenal fans on the night was young Brazilian striker, Gabriel Martinelli. The South American got himself an assist and was busy all night in the final third. Indeed, he was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet himself in the end.

Martinelli hasn’t featured too much under Arteta. But he is starting to make a case for more regular minutes. And performances like tonight at Old Trafford will do him no harm.

Here, then, is what some Arsenal fans had to say about Gabriel Martinelli tonight.
