Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah played 45 minutes on Friday evening for England’s Under-21s side – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter praised him for his performance.
The 20-year-old striker is a highly-rated talent to come through the academy at the Emirates Stadium and he’s spending this year out on loan at Championship outfit Leeds United.
Nketiah started in attack for Aidy Boothroyd’s Young Lions and he gave his team an advantage in the first-half with his penalty away to Slovenia in an international friendly.
He won England a spot-kick after some brilliant dribbling into the box and he converted it cooly into the bottom right corner.
The centre-forward was one of several players to come off at half-time in the friendly match and he watched on from the sidelines as England blew a two-goal lead to draw 2-2.
Sam Surridge appeared to have put the game beyond doubt with a 70th minute goal, but hosts Slovenia capitalised on a mistake to pull one back through Dejan Petrovic and Janez Pisek then prodded in a 94th minute equaliser.
A selection of Arsenal supporters on social media were thrilled with what they saw from their loanee, as he showed his qualities during his first-half outing.
Nketiah is a rapid centre-forward that is being tipped for the top and he showed how sharp he can be around the box.
He’s a clinical finisher that has four goals in nine senior games since joining Leeds, but unfortunately for him he’s yet to start a league fixture and is behind Patrick Bamford in the pecking order.
Here are some Arsenal fans on Nketiah:
Eddie Nketiah is the closest we have to Aguero. Mark these words. A world class CF in the making.

That was superb from Nketiah. Received the ball, beat two players with the turn alone, winning the penalty and converted it. We’ve got Auba and Laca’s replacements on lock.
