Arsenal’s Under-23s team were beaten on Friday night against Blackburn Rovers – but some of the club’s fans on Twitter did pick out their defender Zane Monlouis as a rare positive from the result.

The Gunners were beaten 3-0 at home to Blackburn’s Under-23s in the Premier League 2 fixture.

Steve Bould’s side conceded three first-half goals, meaning they suffered another loss at Meadow Park.

The Arsenal youth team are now on an unwanted seven-game run without a victory.

There were some recognisable faces in the Arsenal XI with the likes of Folarin Balogun, Eddie Nketiah and Reiss Nelson, but they were unable to prevent the poor run of form.

A selection of Arsenal supporters on social media were left extremely excited though about the display from rising talent Monlouis, as they watched on a live stream that the club provided.

Monlouis is a highly-rated teenager from the Hale End academy, and he signed his first professional contract back in October 2020.

Aged 17, the defender has spent most of the season impressing with the Under-18s team, but he’s been promoted in recent weeks to the next age group.

He’s an English centre-back renowned for his composure on the ball, and he’ll hope he can be the next academy prospect to make a first-team debut under Mkel Arteta.
