A handful of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to suggest that they would love to see the Gunners target Allan Saint-Maximin after the Newcastle United winger proved to be a shining light on a disappointing day for the Magpies.
Steve Bruce’s men were thrashed 4-0 at the Emirates. It had looked promising for the visitors as the game reached half-time still goalless.
However, Arteta’s side stepped through the gears after the break. Goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Nicolas Pepe, Mesut Ozil and Alexandre Lacazette decided the contest.
It proved to be an afternoon to forget for Newcastle. But Saint-Maximin did enough to impress a number of Arsenal fans on social media.
He looked to cause a number of problems during the first-half in particular. And it would be difficult to argue that any of his teammates staked a stronger claim to be considered Newcastle’s best performer.
That has prompted some supporters on Twitter to suggest that they would not mind seeing Arteta target Saint-Maximin in the future.
Admittedly, the winger has provided just one goal and one assist in the Premier League this season. And after watching a 4-0 win, it should also be noted that some fans do not feel that Arsenal need the 22-year-old.
But some see a lot of potential in Saint-Maximin and believe that he is definitely a player to keep an eye on ahead of a future window.
Here is what some of the Arsenal fans made of Saint-Maximin’s display…
Yes! Only player in the Newcastle team who worries me. Very, very dangerous. Rather have him on our side than face him.

Sign him up looks a threat every time he has a 1-1 with full back. Had Bellerin on toast in that first half

ASM is too good for Newcastle
