Transfer deadline day will always create winners and losers, and this year was no exception. Chelsea certainly endured a frustrating window, while Tottenham fans were also forced to showcase patience as they waited for Daniel Levy to work his deadline day magic.
The windows biggest losers were undoubtedly Arsenal, who lost two prominent squad members in the form of Kieran Gibbs and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain while also failing in their last ditch move for Monaco’s talented winger Thomas Lemar.
Let’s not even start on the chaos surrounding Alexis Sanchez, which has left the Gunners with a smaller and largely disaffected squad that lacks any semblance of leadership.
Arsenal’s fans were quick to have their say, combining humour, anger and moments of reflection to share their feelings:

Unsurprisingly, there was also a considerable focus on Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez, whose proposed move to Manchester City only collapsed due to Lemar’s decision not to join the Gunners. Some were happy that he stayed, while others simply could not see the logic of retaining him:

It was interesting to note that one fan at least decided to look on the bright side, highlighting Barcelona’s transfer window as having been far worse than the one endured by the Gunners. Another eagle-eyed fan was also confused by an error on Sky Sports which seems to suggest that Danny Welbeck has also left Arsenal to rejoin Manchester United!
