After Alexandre Lacazette’s impact on Sunday’s 4-2 win over Tottenham Hotspur, the Frenchman may well have expected to start against Manchester United at Old Trafford last night.
Aaron Ramsey came on alongside the speedy striker at half time against Spurs and the Welshman was rewarded with a start in place of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, but Lacazette had to be content with a spot on the bench once more.
Even when Ramsey limped off injured at half-time, the former Lyon striker was not called upon and he had to wait until the 65th minute to be introduced, in place of the underwhelming Alex Iwobi.
Within three minutes of coming on, Lacazette had played a major part in the Gunners going 2-1 ahead.
Marcos Rojo lost the ball inside his own half and along with fellow substitute Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Lacazette made the Argentine pay, forcing him into a last-ditch challenge which only succeeded in diverting the ball past David de Gea.
Only some horrendous defending down the other end from Sead Kolasinac prevented that being the match-winning contribution and he may feel hard done by that his cheeky late goal was disallowed.
But the Gunners fans love Lacazette and want to see more of him…
Star quality and instant difference when coming on.

The worst thing you do is introducing him late in the game..you should have done so just at half time

He brings this spark of energy, Iwobi lacked the needed creativity and drive to make things happen. @LacazetteAlex should have come on earlier in the game
