Viktor Gyokeres is off the mark for Arsenal.

The Sweden international scored his first two Premier League goals for the Gunners in what was a resounding 5-0 win over Leeds, netting the third for Arsenal after a determined run and smart finish.

Icing was then applied to the cake when the £64m man scored a penalty to make it 5-0 in stoppage time, which was won by the remarkable Max Dowman, making his Premier League debut at the age of just 15.

As Viktor Gyokeres celebrated that goal, Arsenal fans spotted the meaning behind his celebration.

Arsenal fans realise Viktor Gyokeres hit back at his critics during 5-0 win over Leeds

Gyokeres endured a tough debut at Old Trafford last week, making just four passes in an hour.

The Swede has a tendency to push his hair back during games, and rival fans were quick to mock the new Arsenal No.14 for sorting his barnet out more than he passed the ball.

Hilariously, Gyokeres then celebrated his second goal against Leeds by looking directly into the Sky Sports camera to adjust his hair in a mocking fashion – hitting back at those who poked fun at him.

One Arsenal fan wrote: “Gyokeres is too funny lol, he touched his hair on purpose to mock all those who were onto him last week.”

Another posted: “Gyokeres hitting back at those who called him Ballon d’Hair.”

It was good to see this cheekiness from the Swede on just his second Premier League appearance, proving he has an edge to his game.

A third Arsenal fan wrote that they “lost it” when Gyokeres celebrated in this manner, adding that the striker must be “chronically online” to have even seen the criticism in the first place.

A fourth added: “Gyokeres sorting his hair into the camera. I’m dead hahaha.”

Others wrote that it was nice to see the 27-year-old show a spikiness to his personality, and an arrogance they want in their talisman.

Gyokeres was asked about his celebration in his interview after the final whistle, and cheekily replied “yes, it might be” when asked if it was a message to his critics.

Gyokeres was hammered by many in the media last week after struggling against Manchester United, but he showed against Leeds exactly why so much effort was put into his arrival from Sporting CP.

The man born in Stockholm scored both of his shots on target – displaying the clinical nature which saw him bag 97 goals in 102 games for Sporting CP.

Gyokeres again only completed four passes, but proved he does not need to drop deep like Kai Havertz and have a heavy involvement in the build-up to make an impact.

Hopefully, this is the start of something special for the Swede in north London.
