Marcelo Flores sparkled for Mexico’s Under-20 side at the Revelations Cup during November’s international break – and Arsenal fans are impressed.
Flores, 18, is already shining at Under-20 level for Mexico – flying out to his home country in the November break for the Revelations Cup.
It saw Mexico’s Under-20’s take on the likes of Colombia, United States and Brazil. Mexico and Flores played three games in six days.
Opening the tournament, Mexico and Flores played out a 0-0 draw with Colombia. However, they won their next two games against Brazil and USA.
With both games won 2-1, Flores had a hand in three of the four goals Mexico scored throughout. He opened the scoring against Brazil.
A left-footed strike that, via a slight deflection, flew into the net. But with the pressure on against USA, the Arsenal wonderkid really shone through.
Again getting his side’s first with a neat shift of the shoulder and right-footed effort, he then crossed for Ali Avila to tap home from close range.
What are Arsenal fans saying about Flores, and his form for Mexico?
Little surprise then, that Flores won the Player of the Tournament award – as well as Mexico winning the entire competition.
At Arsenal, those who are tracking Flores will hardly be surprised. A diminutive attacking midfielder, his low centre of gravity is eye-catching.
This season, he has six goals in eight Under-18 Premier League games – and two assists. Arsenal fans think they have a real talent on their hands.
