Arsenal battled to a narrow 2-1 win against Rapid Vienna on Thursday evening – and some of the club’s supporters picked out Thomas Partey as a real positive from the match.

The Gunners kickstarted their Europa League groups stage campaign with three points, but they had to come from behind in Austria to secure the win.

Mikel Arteta’s side were far from their dazzling best in the match and went behind in the 51st minute when Taxiarchis Fountas capitalised on a mistake from goalkeeper Bernd Leno.

But the North London club responded with two quick-fire goals, as David Luiz scored a header and substitute Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang tapped into an open goal.

A selection of Arsenal supporters on social media were left raving about their recent signing Partey for his European display.

The 27-year-old joined from Atletico Madrid at the beginning of October and he made his first start for the Gunners on Thursday.

Despite it being an overall underwhelming performance from Arteta’s men, Partey was a real standout in the centre of the park with his commanding presence.

The Ghanian central midfielder was extremely efficient on the ball to get his side moving forward and it looks like he’s got a real engine, plus he was able to sniff out danger.
