Fulham secured a place in the Premier League and returned to the top flight at the first time of asking on Tuesday night with a 2-1 extra-time win over Brentford – and Arsenal fans were left impressed by Bees ace Josh Dasilva.
With neither side able to find the deadlock during the initial 90 minutes, the tense decider entered extra-time. It was not until a bit of magic from Joe Bryan that either side had managed to produce anything more than a half chance.
Left-back Bryan surprised everyone including David Raya as he struck a free kick from all of 35 yards that slipped past the Brentford goalkeeper. His second came with moments left after a one-two with Aleksandar Mitrovic.
The loss was harsh on Brentford with neither team really doing enough to win the match. Eventually it was a moment of genius, and an excellent second that won the match for Fulham.
Henrik Dalsgaard scored a late goal for Brentford but it was rather too little, too late. Dasilva and Brentford could not prevent Fulham from promotion – though Dasilva will have certainly caught the eye of onlookers with his display.
Dasilva, 22, joined Brentford in the summer of 2018 and endured a difficult first season at Griffin Park – managing just 21 appearances and only scoring once. But this season, he has improved vastly.
Indeed, Dasilva is a crucial part of Thomas Frank’s side and has had a hand in 14 goals during his 42 Championship appearances before the play-offs. He managed only three senior outings for Arsenal.
Football London claimed he is one of four Championship stars the Gunners could look at this summer, and Arsenal fans discussed the London-born star’s performance – with many questioning why their club let him go.
Josh Dasilva is better than Willock & Guendouzi.

DaSilva is a beast. How did Arsenal let him go? 🤷

Who the hell said at Arsenal that we don't need Da Silva, and let him go? 😡
He's very talented box-to-box midfielder, and since Ramsey left, we don't have any useful player for that position, well apart from AMN, who can probably also leave in the this window. #AFC #BREFUL
