Arsenal earned a narrow 2-1 win over AFC Bournemouth in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Monday evening – but Gunners fans took to Twitter to urge their club to sign Cherries defender Nathan Ake, after the Dutch defender impressed.
A poor Bournemouth display in the first half saw Arsenal take control of the tie, scoring goals through Bukayo Saka and Eddie Nketiah to lead 2-0 at half-time. Bournemouth were much improved in the second half.
However, Eddie Howe’s side could not score until the 94th minute as Sam Surridge latched on to a cross to net past Emi Martinez. But Arsenal held on to a win that could and probably should have been a lot more comfortable.
The Gunners could have scored plenty more goals in the first 45, but Netherlands international Ake stopped the likes of Nketiah, Gabriel Martinelli, Saka and Joe Willock from finding the back of the net. Ake made a number of blocks, headers and tackles.
Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, Arsenal and Everton were all linked with Ake earlier this month by The Telegraph, while Chelsea are also said to be keen to bring him back to Stamford Bridge. The Blues have a £40million buyback clause.
Arsenal supporters have reacted on Twitter to Ake’s display from Monday night, and many fans think their club should look to lure Ake to The Emirates and finally solve their defensive issue – now or in the summer.
Arsenal should be all over Nathan Ake in the summer transfer window.

Ake is the only reason this is still 2-0. By far Bournemouth's best player
