Arsenal fans have reason to be annoyed after seeing what happened in Real Madrid vs Barcelona last night

Arsenal fans would be forgiven for feeling a little frustrated after what happened in last night’s El Clasico between Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Mikel Arteta’s side thankfully returned to winning ways against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday evening.

It was by no means an easy tie for the Gunners, who had lost their previous two games against Aston Villa and Bayern Munich.

But Arsenal once again took initiative in the title-race, and have the chance to go four points clear of Manchester City against Chelsea on Tuesday.

That being said, Arsenal’s Champions League exit can’t be avenged until next season, when Mikel Arteta’s team will return with more experience under their belt.

And although Thomas Tuchel felt as if that was Bayern’s key advantage over two legs, the margins were incredibly small.

And many Arsenal fans may still feel as if their biggest opportunity came in the first leg at the Emirates.

And with that being said, a penalty that was awarded in El Clasico last night may particularly frustrate Arsenal fans.

Arsenal fans will feel Bukayo Saka definitely deserved a penalty after watching El Clasico

At the start of the 17th minute of the game, Lucas Vazquez was awarded a penalty after his trailing leg was caught by Pau Cubarsi in the box.

The game was 1-0 to Barcelona at the time, and Vinicius Junior then proceeded to bring the tie level.

The incident was incredibly similar to a moment right at the end of Arsenal’s first-leg against Bayern.

Bukayo Saka was running through on goal only to be halted by Manuel Neuer who was rushing out of net.

Remarkably, the ref and VAR deemed the incident not to be a foul, perhaps judging that Saka left his trailing leg behind, hoping for contact.

But at the speed he was travelling, it was near impossible to not be caught by Neuer who had missed the ball.

And when you compare the incident to what happens here at 45 seconds in El Clasico, Arsenal fans have reason to be annoyed.

Yes, the tie against Bayern is in the past now, but these inconsistencies at the highest level are incredibly frustrating.

And as we saw with Nottingham Forest’s questionable reaction yesterday, it’s becoming harder for clubs to stomach.

All that being said, Micah Richards believes there could still be a ‘twist’ in the title-race.
