Unai Emery as taken a step closer towards the sack after watching his Arsenal side give up another lead to lose to German outfit Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League at The Emirates – and Gunners fans have hammered defender Sokratis.

Emery named a strong looking side in order to push the Gunners into the knockout rounds of the Champions League, including the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Matteo Guendouzi, Kieran Tierney and the return of Granit Xhaka.

Indeed, Emery named a three-man defence of Sokratis, David Luiz and Shkodran Mustafi and in the first half, the trio coped with ease as Arsenal dominated. But the Gunners only mustered a 1-0 lead – as Aubameyang netted in first-half injury time.

The second half was a different story as Frankfurt put the Arsenal defence under pressure. The Gunners defenders folded under that pressure, as Daichi Kamada produced two excellent strikes to flip the game on its head.

The Gunners looked bereft of ideas, with defenders looking to play keep football but losing the ball on numerous occasions. Indeed, Sokratis gave possession away in his half prior to Frankfurt winning the corner in which Kamada scored his second.

Arsenal fans reacted to £16million signing (Telegraph) Sokratis’s performance, and many have hammered the 90-time Greece international for his display – as he looked slow and gave the ball away repeatedly.
