Arsenal fans fume at Unai Emery after his comments about supporters

Unai Emery has claimed that Arsenal fans that attend the Emirates Stadium need to create a more positive atmosphere  – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter have reacted furiously to his comments.

The Gunners have drawn their last three consecutive home matches in the Premier League and their form means they sit eighth in the table.

There is already an eight point gap to the top four spots and it appears like there is a toxic atmosphere around the North London club.

Emery has been speaking ahead of his team’s Europa League group stage match at home to Eintracht Frankfurt, where a win will see them progress to the knockout rounds.

The Spanish boss has pinpointed a potential issue within the crowd and feels a negative atmosphere is rubbing off on their players.

“My wish is the supporters help the team because we need them. Our confidence depends a lot on how we feel in our stadium with our supporters. Teams are coming here fearing us less and this is the first thing we need to change,” Emery said in his press conference.

A selection of Arsenal supporters on social media are enraged by Emery’s comments and feel he had to take responsibility.

The manager is not enjoying the type of second season in charge he may have imagined and it looks like they are going backwards at present.

He is already a huge enemy with some fans and he’s hardly helped himself with a slight dig at the fanbase, but ultimately performances from the players on the pitch haven’t been good enough consistently this season.
