Sam Greenwood continued his excellent goalscoring start to life at Leeds United for the club’s Under-23 side as he netted a stunning hat-trick on Monday afternoon against Sunderland – and Arsenal fans are frustrated on Twitter.
Greenwood, 18, joined Arsenal from Sunderland and went on to score 15 goals in 39 outings for the club’s Under-18 side. It saw him gain recognition, enough to earn a place in England’s Under-18 side – where he now has three caps.
The versatile attacker also broke into Arsenal’s second string last season, but instead of keeping him and letting him grow – Arsenal decided to cash in, selling him for just £3million to Leeds United, as per The Standard.

Since joining Leeds, he has starred for the club’s Under-23 side. In just three Premier League 2 appearances, the attacker has netted four goals – with a hat-trick coming on Monday during a 3-1 win over Sunderland on Wearside.
Greenwood put Leeds ahead after a defence-splitting pass from Joe Gelhardt, before making it two with a stunning free-kick from 20 yards out. It was three when Greenwood unleased a left-foot drive into the roof of the net after being played through.
Video footage emerged of Greenwood’s hat-trick (above) on Twitter and Arsenal fans have responded to his goals for Leeds’ Under-23 side – showing frustration in their club’s decision to cash in.

Still blows me away that we thought it was a good idea to let him go.

Such a big loss for us. As you said, he's a real talent and made a brave move this summer leaving us.
