Arsenal fans frustrated as Tottenham reportedly close to Conte appointment

Tottenham are reportedly set to replace Nuno Espirito Santo with Antonio Conte and Arsenal fans have responded on Twitter, with many frustrated.

Nuno was given his marching orders on Monday morning after Daniel Levy watched Tottenham’s 3-0 defeat to Manchester United at home, on Saturday.

A dismal result for Spurs. It looks likely that Nuno – who lost five of his 10 Premier League matches at Spurs – will be replaced by Antonio Conte.

Of course, Spurs tried to get Conte before hiring Nuno in the summer. Now, Di Marzio says they are securing the final details, he could travel to London.

It would be a superb appointment for Tottenham, given Conte is out of work despite guiding Inter Milan to the Serie A title last season.

What are Arsenal fans saying about Tottenham closing in on Conte?

Rewind to the the first few weeks of the season, and Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was under intense scrutiny after three straight losses.

At that point, managers were being linked with Arsenal and Conte was among those. A report from ITA Sport Press said Arsenal were keen.

The report also stated that Arsenal were willing to pay his enormous £196k-a-week wages, which at Tottenham, would see him close to Harry Kane.
