'The new Henry', 'He's the dream': Some Arsenal fans urge Arteta to sign 23-year-old sensation

Arsenal are one of several clubs looking to sign RB Leipzig star Christopher Nkunku, according to Calciomercato. After last night’s performance against Manchester City, the Gunners faithful have been discussing the youngster.

The 23-year-old has made a quality start to the 2021/22 campaign. He has bagged 14 goals and claimed nine assists for the Bundesliga outfit and attracted lots of interest.

Nkunku was in action last night as Leipzig bowed out of the Champions League. The Frenchman played the full 90 minutes as they defeated Manchester City 2-1.

It’s unsure at this stage just how much Nkunku would cost any interested party. Given his form and his potential, however, it’s likely to be substantial.

Nkunku has played 106 games for Leipzig in total, scoring 26 goals and claiming 36 assists. He arrived from PSG in 2019 after making 78 for the Ligue 1 giants.

The former France under-21 international is extremely versatile. This season alone he has played as a number 10, on both flanks and as a central midfielder.

It goes without saying that Arsenal would welcome him. He fits the ethos of a Gunners recruit nicely and signing him could represent a real coup.

What have Arsenal fans said about Nkunku?

After last night’s performance, it’s fair to say that they’re desperate to see Nkunku arrive at Arsenal.

The youngster didn’t get among the goal contributions against City but he was a constant menace throughout.

He lined up on the right-wing against the Premier League champions and he must have given Pep Guardiola some food for thought.

City are perhaps well-stocked in the final third but Arsenal aren’t and they must be considering a swoop.

Arsenal fans certainly hope that’s the case and are really hopeful that Nkunku will be in North London when the summer comes around.
