Arsenal under-23s kicked off their pre-season campaign with a 3-1 defeat against National League outfit Bromley last night.
It proved a tough game for the young Gunners but they’ll benefit from the experience of coming up against a men’s team.
Arsenal didn’t enjoy a great season under Steve Bould last season. The ex-Gunners defender has now been replaced and it’s hoped the change will revive the team’s fortunes.

Defeat last night was perhaps to be expected, but there were some bright moments. The team’s goal scored by Amario Cozier-Duberry saw him produce a brilliant finish.
The talented teenager scored once and registered one assist last season in the club’s under-18 Premier League campaign.
Cozier-Duberry is primarily a player in the Arsenal under-18s. A few more goals of this nature, however, might win him more game time at the next step.
At this stage of his young career, it’s difficult to say what he might go onto achieve in the game. One thing that is for sure, however, is that he looks like a decent player at a young age.
He wasn’t overawed by playing against men and Arsenal fans will have been pretty excited with his strong performance.
Future bright for Arsenal as Cozier-Duberry shines
The youngster might be a long way from first-team stardom. Last night was the first time he has played for the under-23s and becoming a regular there will be the first aim.
His performance was good though and perhaps showcased that the younger players are buoyed by a clear pathway to first-team stardom.

Mikel Arteta has showcased a willingness to use younger players and that must have given the whole academy a real lift.
Supporters were certainly impressed by Cozier-Duberry and they took to Twitter to rave about the youngster. Here is what they had to say:
