Arsenal fans discuss performance of 23-year-old during 2-2 draw

One step forward, two steps back is becoming the norm for the modern-day Arsenal. In Aaron Ramsdale though, Edu and Mikel Arteta look to have hit the jackpot in the summer transfer window.

Arsenal left it late; very late, to earn something from their game with Crystal Palace last night. Alexandre Lacazette’s last-gasp equaliser did little to lift the mood around the Emirates Stadium.

This should have been so much more convincing. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s eighth-minute goal had Arsenal in the ascendency. They held the lead until the break but then folded like a second-hand deckchair you’d buy from a car boot sale!

Christian Benteke capitalised on a poor piece of play from Thomas Partey to equalise. Then, Albert Sambi Lokonga ‘dropped the ball’ and a lack of concentration allowed Odsonne Edouard to fire high into the Arsenal net.

The Gunners haven’t lost for five games. Their last two draws, however, have provided more questions than answers; with some fans still not convinced over Arteta.

Still, there were some positives. Ramsdale produced another eye-catching performance. Although he might have done better with the second goal, it was a pretty good strike by Edouard.

The £24 million goalkeeper made a stunning save in the first half and his distribution was impressive throughout the 90 minutes.

What did Arsenal fans say about Ramsdale?

Although some can’t let go of the second goal, it seems plenty are happy with his performance. He is now firmly established as the number one goalkeeper, keeping Bernd Leno on the bench.

Supporters were pretty pleased with their custodian during the draw with Crystal Palace. There is also a fine image of him showing some raw passion among the supporters after Lacazette’s equaliser.

Here is a selection of Tweets in praise of Ramsdale after another frustrating Premier League clash ends in relative disappointment for Arteta and for Arsenal.
