Arsenal fans discuss Germany star after draw with Turkey on Wednesday night

Bernd Leno helped his Germany side draw with Turkey in an enthralling match that finished 3-3 at Cologne’s home ground on Wednesday night – and Arsenal fans have reacted on Twitter to their goalkeeper’s performance.

Leno, 28, earned just his seventh Germany cap after Joachim Low included him in the starting line-up over Bayern Munich icon Manuel Neuer – but the decision somewhat backfired, as Leno conceded three.

The goalkeeper had made an excellent start to 2020-21 with three clean sheets in six games, and although he could do little about Turkey’s first two goals – the third was probably his fault. Julian Draxler gave Germany the lead.

A beautiful pass from Kai Havertz allowed Draxler to chip home. Ozan Tufan curled in an equaliser, which left £22million (Standard) Arsenal signing Leno with no chance. But moments later, Germany re-took the lead.

Gladbach midfielder Florian Neuhaus curled home on his senior Germany debut, only for Turkey to equalise again after Efecan Karaca won the ball back and curled past Leno in a one-v-one duel. Leno, again, had little chance.

New Benfica signing Luca Waldschmidt thought he had delivered the game’s telling blow with 10 minutes left – only for Leno to concede in the 94th minute, allowing Kenan Karaman’s effort to go in underneath him.

Arsenal fans responded on Twitter to Leno’s performance.
