Arsenal have this afternoon sold Robbie Burton to Dinamo Zagreb to end his association with the Gunners. The midfielder had captained Steve Bould’s under-23 outfit on several occasions during 2019/20.
Burton was on the bench as Arsenal beat Nottingham Forest 5-0 in the Carabao Cup earlier this season but leaves having failed to play for the first-team.
It’s fair to say that reaction to Burton’s departure has been mixed among the Arsenal faithful. Some are sad to see him go, whilst others believe the decision has been taken at the right time to allow him a new challenge.
With a plethora of midfielders at Mikel Arteta’s disposal, it seemed unlikely that he was going to break through any time soon.
The Spaniard has spoken of his desire to add ball-playing midfielders in the summer and selling Burton seems to make sense.
His departure has caused some debate among the Gunners faithful and many have taken to Twitter to discuss Burton.
Here is a selection of tweets from Arsenal supporters as the midfielder heads to Croatia for a fresh start.
Bad decision :/

Robbie #burton would be a big loss IMO. He looked extremely promising on tour and for £800,000 seems just a bad deal for us. Would much rather him go out on loan, even if he were to be sold later on.

Gutted about Robbie Burton leaving Arsenal. I hope the club is doing all it can to make sure Folarin Balogun doesn't follow him out. Balogun could be the best 18-year old no.9 in the country.

Gutted to see Robbie Burton leave. However it's understandable, since the breakthrough of Jadon Sancho, young English players don't want to sit back and wait for their chance. Instead they wanna go out and make their mark as soon as they can. #afc
