Arsenal take on Leeds United at The Emirates Stadium on Monday night in the third round of the FA Cup and it could be a chance for Mikel Arteta to make changes – and one player hoping for a change will be Konstantinos Mavropanos.
Mavropanos, 22, has managed just one senior outing this season and only eight in total since he joined Arsenal in the summer of 2018 from Greek side PAS Giannina for £1.8million (Goal). He is sixth-choice in the pecking order at centre-back.
Calum Chambers, David Luiz, Rob Holding, Sokratis and Shkodran Mustafi are all ahead in the rankings, but with Chambers injured and Holding still looking to return to 100% – Mavropanos has instantly shot up that pecking order.

Indeed, Mavropanos has featured on the bench for three of Arsenal’s last four Premier League games – though he has remained an unused substitute. However, only the one outing has come this season – in a Europa League game against Standard Liege.
Now, with a home clash against lower-league opposition, Arteta has the chance to shake up his squad and Mavropanos could be in with a shout of getting game time. Holding has returned to fitness, while Luiz, Sokratis and Mustafi could also play.
However, many Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter in an attempt to convince manager Arteta to start Greece Under-21 international Mavropanos on Monday night – in a clash that Arsenal are expected to win, with Leeds likely to make changes too.
