Arsenal travel to Belgian outfit Standard Liege on Thursday evening in the Europa League group stages – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter are desperate to see Emile Smith Rowe recalled.
The Gunners face Standard Liege in their final game of the group and it would take an unlikely 5-0 defeat for them to be eliminated from Europe.
But the North London club know a victory will see them top the group and that’s a great incentive to avoid the Champions League dropouts when the knockout rounds start.
Freddie Ljungberg is still the caretaker boss at the Emirates Stadium while the wait for a managerial appointment continues and he will take charge in Belgium.
A selection of Arsenal supporters on social media believe that Smith Rowe should be promoted to the starting XI.
The 19-year-old has only played in three senior games across all competitions this season and has had some injury problems, but has travelled with the first-team squad to face Standard Liege.
He is an attacking midfielder that can play in wide or central positions and is creative with his fast dribbling and eye for goal.
The Englishman does have stiff competition to break into the side, but two of his three senior appearances this season have been in the Europa League.

No Xhaka tomorrow then, shame as he’s usually one of the players robust and physically reliable enough to play midweek without problems. Since we’re *probably* safe I’d give Smith-Rowe a go, let Nelson and Saka compete to be Pepe’s replacement if he’s not fit for City

Smith-Rowe is actually underrated by our fans because of all the young talent that has come through.
The guy can create and score goals from midfield which is something we have been missing for such a long time.
