Arsenal fans demand Alexandre Lacazette is recalled against Manchester City

Arsenal host Manchester City on Sunday in the Premier League – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter have urged their manager Mikel Arteta to recall Alexandre Lacazette to the starting XI.

The Gunners currently sit 10th in the Premier League table, with an eight-point deficit to the top four.

They could make a late charge for the top four if they have an incredible final few months, but most feel their best chance of getting into next year’s Champions League competition is by winning the Europa League this season.

Arsenal recorded a 1-1 draw with Benfica on Thursday in the first leg of a Europa League Round of 32 tie, with the second leg taking place next week.

But the North London club must first contend with a league fixture against runaway leaders Manchester City this weekend.

A selection of Arsenal supporters on social media are asking for rotation in the Man City showdown, perhaps with one eye on the Benfica match.

Lacazette, 29, is a French striker that has been an unused substitute in the last two consecutive games across all competitions.

The £182,000-a-week (Spotrac) forward has been overlooked by Arteta recently, but does have a decent record of 10 goals in 27 games this season.
