Arsenal fans delighted as Joe Willock scores late goal against Tottenham Hotspur

Joe Willock scored a late equaliser as Newcastle United secured a crucial point in their bid to avoid relegation from the Premier League, against Tottenham Hotspur – and Arsenal fans have raved about their on-loan midfielder after scoring against Spurs.

Willock, 21, was dropped to the bench for the first time since joining Newcastle on loan in the January window from Arsenal – having started seven consecutive Premier League matches beforehand. But he reminded Steve Bruce what he is capable of.

With Spurs leading 2-1 after a quick-fire Harry Kane brace had cancelled out a rare goal from Joelinton, Newcastle needed a goal. Step forward Willock, who came off the bench to score his second Toon goal with a close-range finish.

It was a solid performance from Willock, but an even more important point for Newcastle. It gives the Toon a slight bit more breathing space, after Aston Villa beat Fulham 3-1. The Toon are now three point ahead in 17th, with a game in hand.

Arsenal fans took to Twitter to rave about the performance of Willock, and many were impressed. Some suggested he still has a future at The Emirates, while others simply raved about the England Under-21 star’s display in black and white.
