Jamie O’Hara has been forced to eat his own words after predicting Arsenal would struggle to surpass Slavia Prague following the first leg’s 1-1 scoreline, since winning the second leg 4-0 – and Arsenal fans have reacted on Twitter following the victory.
Arsenal came into the match having conceded a last-minute equaliser after Nicolas Pepe put the Gunners ahead in the first leg. The draw would have seen Slavia qualify for the semi-finals if the second leg ended 0-0, given they scored an away goal.
Speaking on Twitter after the first leg, Tottenham-supporting pundit O’Hara stated that he expected Arsenal to be knocked out of the Europa League – suggesting that Slavia, who had beaten Leicester and Rangers, would stop Arsenal in the second leg.
However, Arsenal produced an excellent 4-0 win in the Czech Republic – as Alexandre Lacazette took his tally to 17 for the season with a second brace in two matches. Bukayo Saka and Nicolas Pepe also found the back of the net for Mikel Arteta’s side.
Arsenal fans reacted on Twitter to O’Hara’s Tweet after Arsenal progressed into the last semi-finals of the competition where they will face Unai Emery’s Villarreal. Champions League football remains a possibility, for the winners of the tournament.
Many teased O’Hara for his prediction, which was posted on April 8 – after the Gunners drew with Slavia in the first leg.
