Arsenal fans debate Daniel Ballard after Millwall goal

A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to discuss the future of Daniel Ballard after he scored his first Millwall goal out on loan at the weekend.

Ballard is yet to make his Gunners debut. In truth, he is one of a couple of defenders seeing his stock rise while away from the Emirates.

The 21-year-old helped Blackpool to promotion last season. And he has shone during the early stages of this campaign having stepped up a level.

He is now plying his trade in the Championship. And the Northern Ireland international opened his account for his new side in their weekend draw with West Brom.

It was a superb header against the team who now sit top of the table in the early stages.

Several Millwall fans lauded the centre-back on social media after the game and insisted that they would love to see him join permanently.

Of course, he faces a huge challenge trying to break into Mikel Arteta’s plans. But clearly, many Arsenal supporters think he is working his way towards an opportunity.

In fact, some have implored Arteta to include him in his squad next season. They believe that he could provide cover for the likes of Ben White, Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba.

It certainly appears that they would rather see Ballard get a chance ahead of players such as Calum Chambers, Rob Holding and Pablo Mari.
