‘Expecting a masterclass’, ‘come on’: Some Arsenal fans want ‘great’ 24-year-old to start today

A number of Arsenal fans have called on Mikel Arteta to name Dani Ceballos in the Gunners starting XI this afternoon.

The 24-year-old was an unused substitute in Arsenal’s win over Leicester last Sunday, the Gunners boss opting for Granit Xhaka and Mohamed Elneny in that game.

Prior to that, Ceballos had a poor game against Benfica, conceding the free kick that led to their equaliser before he completely misjudged a header back towards Bernd Leno.

Luckily, his errors did not prove to be too costly as the Gunners ended up turning the game and the tie around by the end.

Arsenal are up against Burnley in today’s early kickoff and there’s scope for Ceballos to be named in the XI ahead of either Granit Xhaka or Thomas Partey, who came on as a sub in the last game.

If Arteta wanted to keep easing Partey back into action, or if he wanted to give Xhaka a breather, then Ceballos could start.

Here is what some Arsenal fans have been saying on social media:

Ceballos has been described by David Luiz as a “great player”, while Mikel Arteta said he’s someone who “leads his profession like it’s the most important thing in his life”.

The Bernabeu loanee has made 28 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal this season, and 65 overall.
