Arsenal fans comment on Calum Chambers’s display at Norwich

Arsenal fans may have been glad to see the back of Unai Emery, but it appears that Freddie Ljungberg’s appointment as interim boss is not going to provide all of the answers to the Gunners’ problems.

They began the post-Emery era by drawing 2-2 at Norwich City on Sunday. It was an enthralling game, particularly in the second-half. But it was the Canaries who arguably looked more likely to score during the latter stages of the contest.

Unfortunately, Arsenal’s defence looks to be an issue that will not be solved simply by Emery leaving. Daniel Farke’s men caused the visitors plenty of problems, and some of those who had been closer to the periphery of the squad did themselves few favours.

Calum Chambers impressed in some ways. He completed three successful dribbles – no other player managed more than two – and won five aerial duels, according to Whoscored.com.

However, his performance has been slammed by a number of Arsenal supporters on social media. He was too high up the pitch for both of Norwich’s goals, and the fans appear to be desperately hoping that Hector Bellerin is not far away from a return.

His display has been heavily criticised. He has played in a variety of positions for the Gunners, which may not be easy. But he has made more appearances at right-back during his career than in any other role.

And yet, the Arsenal fans are clearly hoping that he does not keep his place when Brighton travel to the Emirates on Thursday.

Here is what some of the supporters made of Chambers’s performance…
