Arsenal fans blown away by Granit Xhaka’s display at Chelsea

It is remarkable to think that many Arsenal fans doubted whether Granit Xhaka would play for the Gunners again after his reaction to being substituted against Crystal Palace back in October.

It certainly appeared that too much damage was done for Xhaka to get another chance to leave the field in an Arsenal jersey again.

And yet, less than three months later, the Swiss is perhaps as popular as he has ever been amongst the Emirates faithful after a stunning performance against Chelsea on Tuesday night.

Xhaka has been impressive since Mikel Arteta replaced Unai Emery. Arteta’s appointment appears to have ensured that it is clean slates all round.

And no player seems to have made more of theirs than Xhaka.

The midfielder had to play a large part of the game at Stamford Bridge at centre-back after David Luiz’s sending off during the first-half.

And there are now plenty of Arsenal fans insisting that his future at the club may even lie at the heart of the defence.

Some have taken to social media to suggest that it may have actually been Xhaka’s best display for the club.

Arsenal were outstanding while they had 10 men. And they certainly deserved to take at least a point home with them.

And Xhaka’s performance has been lauded by a number of supporters who cannot believe the transformation that he has enjoyed since Arteta came in.
